Staying With The Stars At Amilla Fushi Maldives
Staying With The Stars At Amilla Fushi Maldives
Where? Amilla Fushi Resort and Residences
Exactly? Baa Atoll, Maldives, Indian Ocean
Why? As the last leg of my Indian adventure I was invited to the exclusive, luxury island of Amilla Fushi. Having an impressive roll call of celebrity guests, from Leonardo di Caprio, Orlando Bloom, Katie Perry to David and Victoria Beckham and more, who am I to say no to the invite of the century!!
So I packed my chicest beach wardrobe and jetted off to the far flung white sand beaches of the super trendy Maldivian island.
The Hotel
Famed as one of the most stylish resorts in the Maldives Amilla Fushi most certainly lives up to the hype. You arrive on a sea plane onto the slick white jetty with incredible views of the pristine beach, crystal clear waters and beautiful resort stretching out in front of you.
And with trendy minimal decor, an on site 1 Oak bar (sister to the famous LA night club) and the lost luxurious restaurants, rooms and private villas it’s no wonder the celebs love the island so much.
The Sky Villa
Housing the first sky bubble in a bedroom in the Maldives the Amilla Sky Villas are a must try if you’re on the island. Using state of the art technology the sky bubble is the perfect place from which to enjoy unbeatable views of the stars from the safety and comfort of your own room.
The bubble is housed on the roof deck of the sky villa next to its own private pool. It’s fully kitted out with bed, blankets, champagne, snacks and a telescope, everything you need to settle in for a night of star gazing. You can even sleep in it if you wish.
We got to experience the full package including a 4 course dinner on the roof deck and an incredible floating breakfast (opening shot) the following morning. Total insta goals!
Inside the bubble enjoying champagne and sunset views. And below the floating breakfast the following morning in your own private pool.
The Rooms
With the options of luxury beach residences, sky villas and lagoon ocean houses you are totally spoilt for choice when it comes to where to stay. We got to experience both the sky villa and the lagoon house, both of which had equal wow factor!!
The rooms are fully kitted out with all of the latest hi-tech, surround sound speakers, TV’s rain showers, pillow menus, Aessop products in the bathrooms plus incredible views of the sea and the horizon. The rooms are dreamy beyond belief.
Aerial shot of the sky villa surrounded by giant palm trees.
The decor in the rooms is a mix of beach style chic in the water villas, with incredible private pools and an infinity view of the ocean. The decor is trendy white and grey with bright colourful soft furnishings to highlight.
The sky villas have more of a grown up, dark wood, colonial feel, with all the luxuries of the water villas but with private pools in the tree tops with panoramic views of the island and beyond.
The residences are ultra modern and stylish.

Beautiful interiors in the huge spacious bedrooms.
The Spa and Wellness
With links to Bodyism for personal training and gym sessions, Margaret Dabbs in the salon for the best pedis and manis in the Maldives and an award winning spa, all of your wellness needs are perfectly taken care of.
I was lucky enough to enjoy an incredible couples massage in the gorgeous beach huts, super relaxing with the sound of the waves in the background.
Getting Around
The best way to get around the island (apart from walking and swimming of course) are via these fabulous retro inspired electric cars and also each villa comes with a bike for each guest, so you can cycle around to your hearts content.
Food and Drink
With a choice of 12 excellent restaurants and eating experiences on the island you can eat in a different country every night of the week. My particular favourites were the Koi Japanese restaurant with its beautiful sunset views over the island and the Fish & Chips barefoot diner on the beach under the stars serves up the yummiest battered fish.
There also plenty of healthy options to pick from including the spa juice bar and wellness cafe. (pictured below)
And for post dinner drinks you can take a walk along the jetty and enjoy cocktails at famous LA nightclub 1 OAK which has opened a sister bar at Amilla Fushi. Oh that explains why Di Caprio was here!
What to do in the day
As with most Maldivian resorts the entertainment definietly revolves around the sea. Every water sports activity you can think of is available at the sea sports centre, from scuba, snorkelling, tortoise watching, boat trips, kayaking, jet skiing, paddle boarding to straight forward swimming lessons.
There’s also an artist in residence who takes kids and adults alike for art and sculpture workshops. This is such a lovely way to spend the day, especially as they use the beautiful nature, environment and the roaring sea as inspiration for the art works produced.
As well as each room having its own private pool the main hotel pool is an incredible infinity lap pool. It is simply spectacular.
That’s all from the Maldives for now. I hope you enjoyed my blog, I would love to hear from you in the comments below if you did?
I’d like to say a huge huge thank you to Amilla Fushi for hosting me on this fantastic trip! I loved every second of it, particularly the over night stay at the sky villa with the bubble, as well as staying in the incredible water villas.
