Cala San Miguel Ibiza Resort Review: Discover Ibiza’s Zen Side

I stayed at Cala San Miguel Ibiza Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton, a stylish beachside retreat in northern Ibiza where turquoise waters, pine-covered hills and understated Mediterranean luxury offer a different side to the White Isle.

This is a sponsored post, I was invited to review the hotel.

Cala San Miguel Ibiza Resort Review: Discover Ibiza’s Zen Side

I’m always intrigued when a new luxury hotel opens in Ibiza. So I was keen to visit Cala San Miguel Ibiza Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton, and discover this beautiful corner of the island.

Opened in summer 2024 following an extensive renovation of the former Hotel Cartago, the resort offers a very different take on Ibiza. Forget the late-night parties and busy beach clubs of the south. Here, the emphasis is on tranquillity, beautiful natural surroundings and laid-back Ibicencan living.

Set among the pine-covered hills of northern Ibiza, the resort has its own beach, a beach club, several swimming pools and a collection of restaurants. It’s the kind of place where you can spend your days swimming in crystal-clear water, enjoying long lunches and unwinding in the sunshine.

For anyone looking for a more peaceful side to Ibiza, this stylish resort is well worth discovering.

Where Is Cala San Miguel Ibiza Resort?

Located in Cala San Miguel, on the northern coast of Ibiza, the hotel enjoys a beautiful beachfront setting surrounded by lush hills and fragrant pine forests. But it also has easy access to one of the islands main roads, which links north to south, meaning you can be in Ibiza Town in 30 minutes.

This part of the island feels a world away from the energy of the party side of Ibiza. The scenery is spectacular, the atmosphere is relaxed and the turquoise waters make it tempting to spend the entire day by the sea.

One of the biggest advantages is the hotel’s direct access to the beach. You can wander straight from the resort onto the sand, making it easy to alternate between swimming, sunbathing and leisurely lunches at the beach club.

Despite its peaceful location, the resort is only around 30 minutes by car from Ibiza Town, the airport, and the south beaches. As well as many of the island’s famous nightlife spots. I loved the idea of being able to escape to this tranquil setting after a night out. Perfectly enjoying the best of both worlds.

The northern coastline is also wonderful to explore, with beautiful coves and scenic spots such as Cala Benirrás with its famous hippie sunset sessions is really close by.

The Rooms: Chic Suites With Beautiful Sea Views

I stayed in a lovely King superior room with sea view. It immediately felt like my own chic little apartment overlooking the Mediterranean. I stepped out onto my sun-kissed balcony and felt a sense of peace wash over me.

The interiors are contemporary and understated, with elegant decor that complements the natural surroundings. The colour pallete is neutral, natural shades, accented with raffia details and touches of sage. My room had all the amenities I needed for a super comfortable stay. There was plenty of space to relax, unpack and enjoy the view. The only one thing missing for me, was a kettle :) I am British Asian after all!!

The overall aesthetic is fresh, modern and effortlessly stylish — exactly what I’d look for in a summer escape in Ibiza.

Hotel Facilities: Beach Clubs, Pools and Wellness

There is plenty to enjoy at Cala San Miguel without ever needing to leave the resort.

The Beach Club

The beach club was one of my favourite spaces. With its own swimming pool, relaxed restaurant playing Ibiza chilled house tracks and direct access to the beach. It’s ideal for long, sun-soaked days.

I loved being able to move between the pool, the restaurant and the sea without having to organise anything. The atmosphere is wonderfully laid-back, with the Mediterranean providing the perfect backdrop for a leisurely lunch or an afternoon swim.

The beach itself is beautiful, with clear turquoise water and a peaceful northern Ibiza vibe.

Swimming Pools, Spa and Gym

Beyond the beach club pool, there are 2 additional swimming pools dotted around the resort. All giving you different spaces to relax throughout the day.

Whether you prefer lounging by the water with a book or finding a quieter corner to enjoy the views, there is plenty of room to unwind.

The resort also has a gym and a spa offering treatments, which is ideal if you want to incorporate a little wellness into your stay. After a day in the sunshine, a spa treatment feels like the perfect way to round off the afternoon.

Restaurants and Dining at Cala San Miguel

With several dining options across the resort, there is a good choice of places to eat. From relaxed daytime meals to more special evening dinners.

During my stay, I had dinner at the rooftop restaurant, Paseo Steak House, which was a real highlight. The food was fantastic, and I particularly enjoyed the Spanish-inspired flavours.

The jamón croquettes are definitely worth trying. And the wine list is another standout, with a lovely selection of Spanish wines.

I love a long dinner when I’m in Ibiza, especially when the setting is as beautiful as this. The restaurant offers a lovely atmosphere for a rooftop evening meal without needing to venture away from the hotel.

There are also more casual options for lunch and daytime dining. You can enjoy everything from a relaxed meal by the pool to dinner in a more elevated setting.

The Interiors: Contemporary Mediterranean Style

Throughout the resort, the interiors feel chic, light and contemporary, with a relaxed aesthetic that suits the surroundings.

I loved the use of pale tones, natural textures and stylish, mid-century-inspired furniture. The whole place gives Bali / Tulum vibes. There is a subtle Scandinavian influence, giving the spaces a clean, understated look without feeling cold or overly minimalist.

There are plenty of lovely areas to sit and relax. Whether you’re meeting friends for a drink, enjoying a quiet moment with a book or simply taking in the views.

What works particularly well is that the design doesn’t compete with the scenery. The sea, the greenery and the natural beauty of northern Ibiza remain the stars of the show.

My Thoughts on the Hotel

Having visited Ibiza over the years, I think Cala San Miguel is a gorgeous addition to the island’s luxury hotel scene.

What I loved most was the feeling that you could genuinely retreat here for the summer. It’s somewhere to spend your days swimming in clear blue water, enjoying leisurely lunches, relaxing by the pool and waking up to beautiful sea views.

The Highlights

The beach club was a particular highlight for me. Being able to walk straight from the pool area onto the beach made everything feel wonderfully effortless. And the setting is exactly what I’d hope for from a Mediterranean summer escape.

I also loved the hotel’s northern location. If you associate Ibiza with its busier beach clubs and nightlife, this part of the island offers a completely different experience. With beautiful scenery and a much calmer atmosphere.

But what makes Cala San Miguel particularly appealing is that you don’t have to choose between peace and nightlife. Whenever I wanted to head into Ibiza Town, Clubs like Pacha, Unvrs or even Blue Marlin in the south, it was a 30-minute drive. My taxis cost less than €50 each way during my stay, which is actually  reasonable by Ibiza standards.

You can enjoy an evening out and then return to the tranquillity of your hotel, surrounded by pine trees and the sound of the sea.

For me, that is the real appeal of Cala San Miguel Ibiza Resort. It’s a stylish, relaxing retreat that allows you to enjoy Ibiza on your own terms. Whether that means beach days, long lunches, wellness or dancing until the early hours.

If you’re looking for a luxury hotel in northern Ibiza with beautiful sea views, direct beach access and a more serene atmosphere, I’d definitely add Cala San Miguel Ibiza Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton to your list. I will definitely be staying again.
