Where? The Shangri La Hotel at The Shard, London.
Why? I was invited to stay the world famous Shangri La Hotel, to review the luxurious Valentine’s Day package. Keep reading to find out what’s included and is it worth it.
Hi guys, This week I was super lucky to invited to stay at London Shangri La Hotel. The hotel is situated at the top of iconic London Landmark, The Shard. It’s the tallest building in Western Europe and soars at a majestic 125 metres above London.
The Shangri La Hotel perches elegantly across the top 18 floors, starting on the level 34. At the very top sits the decadent Gong Bar restaurant, more on that later.
As part of the very special Valentine’s Day package, I was invited to stay in the one of the ‘iconic suites’ on the 50th floor. As I entered my suite I was totally wowed by the breathtaking vistas from the 180 degree wraparound floor-to-ceiling windows.
The huge room is the ultimate in luxury. With wide screen TV, walk in wardrobe, a central iPad which controls the room, a mini bar filled with luxury items, pillow menu and a stunning roll top bath. All with views looking out over the city of London.
As part of the Valentine’s package the concierge team filled the room with rose petals. A heart shaped rose petal bed installation, a complimentary bottle of Veuve Cliquot Champagne, Charbonnel & Walker chocolates and a huge bouquet of roses greet you as you enter the room.
After chilling out and getting ready in our epic suite we headed up to the Gong Bar, on the 52nd floor for a special Valentine’s Day Dinner.
The dinner is a set menu including sumptuous Waygu beef tataki, rainbow maki salmon rolls, tuna tartare, octopus, chicken yakitori and more. All perfectly accompanied by a bottle of Louis Roederer champagne and a signature cocktail from the bar mixologists.
The atmosphere is dark and sexy with great house music from the in house DJ. The views from the 52nd floor at night are incredible.
After a romantic dinner we headed back to the suite, to discover that the hotel had created a beautiful rose petal bath for us. Using special Jo Loves products and bath oil, we enjoyed a languid soak in the tub with spectacular views of the night skyline.
After a magical evening in the clouds there was time for a quick swim in the rooftop pool, followed by the best breakfast buffet in town. Being the Shangri La the buffet was epic, filled with healthy, organic ingredients, fresh fruit, every type of milk imaginable, all the full English classics, as well as an asian section and in-house treats from the patisserie.
We had such a wonderful experience, I can whole heartedly recommend this special Valentine’s Day package. It’s the ultimate in luxury London experiences. It’s expensive, but if it’s for a special occasion or you fancy pushing the boat out, then go for it. You won’t regret it.
