Johannesburg After Dark

Bars and Clubs – Johannesburg
There are bars, clubs and music venues to suit all tastes in Johannesburg, but a little timing tip for you, don’t arrive at any of the clubs before 11.30pm or midnight. For the dance music crew head to trendy Taboo Nightclub in exclusive Sandton. Or for a spot of celeb spotting blag your VIP credentials at Kong. If late night bars are more to your taste, the bohemian area of Melville is a good option. Located in a predominately studenty/arty area cafes, bars and clubs line both sides of the road. As the night unfolds drinkers and revellers spill out onto the main street.

If day time partying is more your scene, head to hipster haven Maboneng on a Sunday afternoon. The place to see and be seen is at roof top bar The Living Room. Head over after lunch, order a cocktail and watch Maboneng street life unfold around you as the sun sets.

If you’re more interested in celeb spotting then look no further than Kong, Justin Beiber partied here on his recent trip to SA. This elite club in Rosebank plays host to South Africa’s champagne set, but be warned though, the drinks bill may burn a hole in your wallet.
