The Westbury Hotel and 5 Cool Things to do in Dublin
The Westbury Hotel and 5 cool things to do in Dublin
Where? Dublin, Ireland
Exactly? The Westbury Dublin, one of Ireland’s coolest hotels
When? Summer 2018
Why? I was invited on the ultimate girls trip to Dublin for a reunion get together. My girl squad for this epic Irish adventure consisted of gorgeous fellow bloggers @LornaLuxe, @MajaMalnar and the most fab PR Emma Nachman.
Where We Stayed – The Westbury Dublin
Set in the heart of Dublin’s cool quarter, the Westbury Hotel is one of the cities most stylish destinations. It blurs the lines between tradition meets trendy. It’s main restaurant, 1930’s inspired Wilde is perhaps the cities most revered eatery of the moment, Balfe’s is THE place to brunch, the Sidecar bar delivers the best cocktails in town. Dubliners and tourists alike love afternoon tea at the Westbury, it’s a fine and elegant institution. Well that’s all our meal sorted out! What about the rooms…
Sleeping
Well as you can see from my huge, spacious suite, (pictured above) complete with four poster (divinely-comfy) bed, dressing room area, chaise long, beautiful marble bathroom with rain shower and champagne and strawberries pretty much on tap, the rooms are extremely luxe, to say the least.
A few choice goodies and treats were on stand by to greet me in my room.
Wilde
Voted one of the best restaurants in Dublin, you can’t help but go Wild over Wild. I can safely say that this is one of my all time favourite hotel restaurants. An eclectic European meets Asian flavoured menu (the head chef is Indian), I know it sounds unusual but the flavours will blow you away. You MUST try the cauliflower and all the sides, they were incredible. It’s a delicious menu which will tantalise your tastebuds. Everything we had was soooo tasty, I literally couldn’t stop eating!
Balfes
New York style eatery Balfes, on the ground floor is Dublin’s number one brunch spot. I highly recommend the avo on sourdough toast with poached eggs, washed down with a trendy turmeric detox shot. The granola is pretty spectacular too, not something I’ve ever said before! It’s open all day but I highly recommend brunching and lunching.
5 Fun Things to do in Dublin
Visit the Guinness Factory. Well it would be rude to visit Ireland and not try a pint of their number one drink, Guinness. Head to the factory and join the tour, it’s a fun couple of hours with multi sensory displays, tastings and you’ll even get to pull your own pint.
And lunch in the restaurant is pretty good too. Pictured below.
Shopping and Eating with Fab Food Trails
As if you’ve not eaten enough at the hotel, Fab Food Trails can take you on an indulgent journey of Dublins cool boutique shops such as The Westbury arcade’s Paula Rowan gloves, The Perfumeria and Makers’ Dublin, purveyors of fine linens.
Once you’ve shopped you can drop and enjoy all the delicious artisan bakeries, sweet shops and salmon & oyster places that your guide takes you to. You can tailor make the journeys too. Find them on instagram @fabfoodtrails
Have a cocktail from the cocktail trolley at The Sidecar Bar
Featuring Dublin’s only cocktail trolley, where the mixologists rock up to your table to concoct the cocktails of your dreams right in front of you, Sidecar Bar is THE place to see and be seen on Dublin’s nightlife scene.Try the classic Irish pairing, have a Guinness and oysters in the infamous Temple Bar District.
Afternoon tea at the Westbury
From ladies who lunch, graduation groups to high end hens, eating scones and chinking champagne glasses, afternoon tea at the Westbury is a decadent and lavish affair. Indulge in the full high tea, it’s simply splendid.
That’s all from Dublin and the gorgeous Westbury Hotel, next stop, Brazil!
Bon voyage xx
