Located amidst the captivating desert landscapes of Qatar, Zulal Wellness Resort offers a sanctuary for those in pursuit of balance and wellness.
The serenity of the location is perfect for mindfulness. The golden sands and bricks juxtaposed with the blue skies and sounds of water, all feel immediately healing.
The architecture seamlessly blends with the surrounding nature, embracing traditional Qatari design elements while providing modern comforts.
I loved waking up every morning and feeling the gentle warmth of the morning sun on my body, while I enjoyed my morning meditation walk.
Epic sand stone structures, akin to ancient Arabian cities, merge beautifully into the natural environment.
The rooms at Zulal perfectly mimic the relaxed tranquility of the resort. Each deluxe room or suite comes with an outdoor terrace and individual pool. There are wide screen TVs, rain showers, soft slippers, gowns and even pyjamas to wear for your various wellness classes.
The decor is elegant and chic and the spaces bright and airy. They are perfectly positioned within the resort around the spa, treatments and restaurants, so everything is close by.
Facilities abound, catering to every aspect of wellness, from state-of-the-art fitness centers to tranquil meditation spaces.
You can Indulge in an array of rejuvenating treatments, drawing from ancient wellness practices and innovative techniques.
The list of facilities available is impressive! You start your journey with an initial consultation which include a full body scan. This determines what your body is need of, healing, rejuvenation, fitness and nutritional goals.
The amazing consultants then put together a wellness and diet plan specifically for your bodies individual needs. Whether that be weight loss, stress reduction, physio for injuries, or simply rest and recuperation.
The state of the art spa is one of the best I’ve seen. Starting with a myriad of indoor and outdoor hydrotherapy pools, salt room, artic room, sauna, steam rooms, hammam, infra-red showers, jacuzzis, plunge pools at various temperature, you’d would need all day to try each one out.
I loved the Watsu Pool which is a beautiful healing floatation massage guided by a nurturing therapist in a warm calm pool of water. Many have described the therapy as the closest feeling to being inside a mothers womb.
On top of all the incredible amenities at the spa, Zulal also offers a full range of massage, facial and beauty treatments. I was lucky enough to try out the signature full body massage, as well as the Indian head massage and foot massage.
Zulal uses a mixture of techniques fusing its Arabic traditions with China Som’s Thai influences. Every treatment I had was fantastic and much more affordable than it would have been in a 5 star hotel in England or the US. It’s really great value for money.
There is a state of the art main gym filled with techno-gym equipment, as well as an exclusive room for PT sessions. There are several daily fitness classes included on the itinerary for all guests, including yoga and morning stretch, aqua classes, tennis, trx and HIT.
I loved my solo sunset yoga class in the zen room overlooking the lagoon pool. It was a magical way to end the day.
At Zulal they invite you to embrace a lifestyle centred on wellness, where mindfulness and self-care are paramount.
I joined the mindful star gazing class after dinner, where we heard tales of Orion and found Jupiter with the telescopes. There are also lots of mindful arts and craft classes such as embroidery and painting.
The food at Zulal was the best food I’ve ever had at any wellness retreat, and I’ve been to a lot! The meals were nutritionally balanced, using the best ingredients, low calorie, beautifully presented and packed full of flavour.
Each meal was a rainbow of vegetables, balanced with proteins and the staff even help you count the calories if you request a specific diet.
There are four dining options at the hotel and the Acacia Restaurant (pictured below) is the fine dining restaurant which we indulged in on the last night.
I have to say Zulal is an amazing wellness retreat if you’re looking to immerse yourself in a destination spa and really reset or bring balance to your lifestyle.
After a four day trip, I have to say it has really set the path for me to be so much healthier in my daily life. I’m eating so much better since my trip and I’ve also been exercising every day which is fantastic.
It gave me exactly the kick start I needed to reset! I loved it and would love to visit again.
